This year it’s particularly important to get your Flu Jab. If you’re one of 100,000 people in an at-risk group, you are entitled to a free flu vaccination.

Flu is a highly infectious disease with symptoms that come on very quickly.

It can be unpleasant, but if you are otherwise healthy, it’ll usually clear up on its own within a week.

It is a disease which we can protect ourselves and those we love and care for from and certain groups, due to their health vulnerability are at an increased risk from the effects of flu.

These are:

  • anyone aged 65 and over
  • pregnant women
  • children and adults with an underlying health condition (such as long-term heart or respiratory disease)
  • children and adults with weakened immune systems

If you are in one of these groups, you are entitled to a free flu vaccination.

The NHS is also offering free vaccination to:

  • people living with someone who is at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020
  • children in primary school
  • children in year 7 (secondary school)
  • frontline health or social care workers

Your health and safety are the number one priority of clinics, which are being run by local NHS staff. They may be run slightly different this year but please talk to the practice staff.

Call your local practice today to book an appointment and protect yourself and others.
